Are You Gardening? or Are You Guardening?

Today I realized that our lives and things within our lives are like gardens.  Just as "real" gardens, all aspects of our lives need to be properly maintained in order to produce some kind of fruit. Regardless if it's a vegetable garden to produce vegetables, a church garden to produce fruitful Christians, a family garden to produce a fruitful family, and so on. Guardening

To have a fruitful garden garden, you need the basics, of course...soil, sunlight, and water.  Then apparently you need to take care of your garden. If you don't have these three most important things , then what happens?  Your garden doesn't grow right.  It may grow slowly, it may drown out and get limp, or it may slowly wither away...and sometimes, if not careful, can just quickly die.

To have a fruitful church garden, family garden, life garden, etc.., you need the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Then apparently you need to take care of these items.  You don't have these three most important things, then what happens?  Your "life" gardens don't grow right.  Your church may grow slowly, your family may drown out and get limp, your LIFE may slowly wither away...and sometimes, if not careful, can just quickly die.

In your garden garden...after you have the first three covered, then you have to maintain the garden. How do you do that?  You may need additional things such as fertilizer to help it grow.  You need to get rid of the weeds, you need to continue to water it, you need to till the soil.

In your "life" garden...after you have the first three covered (meaning you have been saved/accepted Christ as your Savior/believe in God./Jesus etc.), then you have to maintain this garden.  How do you do that?  You may need additional things such as church(fertilizer) to help it grow.  You need to get rid of the weeds(get rid of he bondage in your life - bad attitudes, bad habits, bad relationships, etc.), you need to continue to water it(read the Holy Bible), you need to till the soil (pray).

If these things are done on a regular basis with all types of gardens, you can be sure that your gardens will grow and produce fruit.  Regardless, if they are vegetables, fruit, ministries, churches, organizations, etc.)

Now, what happens with a fruitful garden garden?  It grows in abundance and you can use the seeds of the garden you have grown to produce more fruit.  You look at your garden and thank the Lord for supplying you with all the necessities for your garden to be so fruitful, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Now, what happens with a fruitful "life" garden?  It grows in abundance and you can use the seeds(teachings, scripture versus, etc.) that you have grown (learned) to produce more fruit(Christians) for God's glory.  You look at your "life" garden and thank the Lord for paving the path for your "life" garden to be so fruitful, and rejoice at the fruits of your labor(Saved Lives).

With your garden garden, you could avoid all the work in reproducing your fruit by just simply going to a nursery and getting more flowers, plants, trees, etc. and have a beautiful garden right away instead of investing the time and effort in to it. But without the proper care, as mentioned above, it will still eventually wither away. Yes you could just keep replacing what you bought (if you can afford that) and it will look pretty, but then it's really not "fruit of your labor", is it?  Sure you put some labor in to perhaps planting the stuff, but that's it.

"By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?"   -  Matthew 7:16

With your life garden, you could avoid all the work in reproducing your fruit as well, by not attending church, not praying, not reading the Holy Bible, and still have a beautiful garden .  But that garden will only be beautiful on the outside and will not continue to produce fruit. And as with the garden garden, where you can just replace it over and over again when it dies because of your lack of care, you can do that with your "life" garden as well.  You can "buy" things to make yourself appear more fruitful.  "Buy" meaning either getting stuff to appear as if you are baring beautiful fruit, attending classes at church just to be more social, which leads to people thinking you are a great Christian person, etc. These things are only good if you are doing them for the glory of God.  So, if you are doing one thing consistently (i.e. giving your garden fertilizer-going to church all the time) but not doing the rest of the steps, then your garden definitely won't grow. Because buying more fertilizer over and over again (going to church and attending more and more classes)without the sunlight(Jesus), tilling the soil(praying), and water(reading the Holy Bible)....just won't grow your garden!

Even though we are gardeners here on earth in a way, we have only one ultimate gardener!

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener."  -  John 15:1

Are you guarding  your Guarden?  Are you forgetting to water more frequently? Do you keep putting off fertilizing?  Are the weeds getting higher than your garden itself?

Lord, Heavenly Father, I ask you touch these readers in a way that shows them YOUR garden and how to take care of it to produce the fruit that YOU see fit for their lives! We repent of our poor gardening, and ask for forgiveness. We thank you for the gardening tools that you have given us to grow our gardens and pray that you give us the strength, encouragement, and enlightenment, to be better gardeners for YOUR glory!
In Jesus' name I pray.

This Is Your Captain Speaking

Attention passengers, this is your captain speaking.

I could have probably flown this post to the "About Me" section, but I'm the pilot and I will fly it any which way but loose.  I apologize for the diversion, but please enjoy the flight for it should be a fairly smooth one for the next few posts.  After that, I can't make any promises.  There may be some heavy clouds, rain, and even turbulence...so fasten your seat belts and try to enjoy the flight.
